It was in the first few months of 2021 that we were approached by Chambers Timber – a family-run timber merchant servicing London. They had a website which wasn’t performing the way they wanted it to and they were struggling to obtain the level of online sales they needed to grow the business. As soon as we began to look at it we knew what the issue was – the shop wasn’t set up the way it should be, so customers would struggle to find what they were looking for and, ultimately, would go elsewhere. No matter how large a company’s product list is, with careful planning and consideration, there is always a solution to make searching for it as easy as possible for your customers.
Our work with the Chambers Timber team began with a new logo design. Tony had ideas of what he wanted in his head, and it was a case of discussions between him and the design team to get these ideas onto paper. After going back and forth finding out about the wants and needs of the company, we created a company logo that encompassed what the company offered but also promoted the family vibe that they are passionate about.
Once the logo was agreed, we could begin a website design with the logo in mind. This process was not just about a new site visually, but would also ensure customers could easily find the products they were looking for and a simple, easy to use check-out. This system required us to integrate Chambers Timber’s own inventory management system with WooCommerce – an ecommerce plug-in for WordPress. By ensuring the integration worked smoothly, we could offer the company a flexible, online store which was easy to manage for the team.
The website went live in May 2021 and it was at this point that we began, and continue to do, monthly search engine optimisation and pay per click advertising, using the Google Search Console to ensure we are optimising the website for the most accurate keywords. Since then, they have experienced a consistent stream of PPC conversions and their Google rankings have gone up 500 places. It is fair to say that the PPC and SEO would not have been as successful without a new website as they would have struggled with their advert’s quality scores with the old site.
In addition to the online work, we have also created business cards and letterheads using their new logo ensuring Chambers Timber’s branding is consistent throughout their business.
