Google Pay Per Click - A beginner's guide

Google Pay Per Click – A beginner’s guide

What is Google Pay Per Click (PPC) Advertising?

The Google Search Engine crawls and indexes over 60 trillion web pages. Google uses your search terms and matches these to web pages in its index. There are two types of search results on Google:

  • Paid for adverts – marked by a yellow ad box
  • Organic results – these are free for the owner

Paid adverts are displayed using a piece of software called Google AdWords, the owner pays for each click their advert receives. You can read more about Google Pay Per Click here . Organic search results are displayed by an algorithm called “PageRank”, which chooses the results that are most relevant to your search terms. Search Engine Optimisation is the process of increasing your visibilty in these search results.
